What are you doing with what God has blessed you with today? Do you find yourself sitting idle and then grumble that there is nothing you can do to earn an income? 

Think about what you are naturally good at, for instance, what others always compliment you on. Identify the gaps that need filling in your environment. Then, take the step to fill that gap and earn from it. Do not despise the small beginnings. Is your next-door neighbour struggling to find a babysitter while at work? Does your neighbour require a caregiver for their elderly/sickly parent? Is someone in your neighbourhood in need of help going to the market or supermarket to buy supplies and groceries? Does a friend need a chauffeur? Does your friend or neighbour require cleaning or cooking/catering services and you are a good cook? Does a friend need meals prepared? Look around your environment and identify a need. If it is within your power and ability to do it, take it up and make it an opportunity to earn from it. Just do not sit idle. 

We work to earn an income so as to facilitate our lives and avoid depending on others financially. When we work with our hands, we are able to supply to our own needs and to the needs of others in our lives. When we work and earn, we are able to provide for our families. 

When we work and earn income, slowly but surely, if we remain diligent, we will gather our earnings and grow our wealth. However, we must earn that income honestly and within morally and legally allowable terms. It matters not the amount we earn, what matters is the manner through which we earn it and the diligence we observe to grow it. 

We also need to commit to God whatever we do so that He can establish our plans (Proverbs 16:3) because all our human endeavours and plans are futile without God’s involvement.
